There is a special place in the region of the resort city Kemer – a mountain with a unique natural phenomenon. This wonderful place is called – the Yanartas mountain. The uniqueness of the Yanartas mountain, also known as the mountain of Chimera, is in the fact that its top is almost always crowned with tongues of flame.
It's the spectacle that strikes anyone with its grandeur. You just need to imagine that in evenings the top of the mountain gets covered with bright flame. According to the legends, the tomb of the legendary Chimera is situated here. Chimera, throwing out the fire from its chap, had the head and the neck of a lion, the body of a goat, and the tail of a snake. The monster-woman, born by the horrible Typhon and gigantic Echidna, had been committing outrages in Lycia. Bellerophon riding the winged horse Pegasus stroke her with his arrow and threw her inside the Olympus mountain. This became the reason of the appearance of the tongues of flame from under the ground.
This wonder, not made by hands, surely, has its explanation – the natural gages that spontaneously come out to the surface and inflame because of the static electricity, burn. Though, the scientists had studied this phenomenon long ago and given to it a quite scientific explanation, the flame of the mountain of Chimera is still very captivating and mysterious.
In the evenings people with torches come here, light them from the fire of the burning gases and come down by the light of these torches. It's a rather beautiful and romantic custom, and any tourist can take part in it.

But of course, the burning mountain looks the best at night, and the ascension in the dark will be more romantic and charming.
