"The Italian Job" Rally, Imola (October 20th – October 31st, 2009 )Back to the events list
The Italian Job Rally is one of the most impressive and unusual sport events in all of Europe! The inspiration for creating such a unique and popular sports show was found in a movie entitles "The Italian Job". At first no one was planning the rally as a regular yearly event, but when it actually happened for the first time in 1990, it became clear right away that the rally will gain incredible popularity.
According to the rules of the event, only those who drive mini cars have the right to participate. In particular the cars which are accepted for participating in the race are the ones featured in the motion picture: Mini Cooper, Aston Martin DB4s, E-type Jag and the Alfa Giula police car. The rally spans across several European countries including Italy, France and Great Britain. The contestants can be representing any country. There are drivers participating from United States, New Zealand, and even Japan!
The start of "The Italian Job" Rally will be given in Italy on the 20th of October, 2009 and the finish line will be in Great Britain, scheduled for the 31st of the same month. The town that hosts the finish will organize a big celebration dinner. Normally the starting point is located in one of the towns of northern Italy. You and your team (usually there are two people in one car) can get to the starting town however you want. In 2009 the starting city might become Rome – the capital of Italy.
All the money collected during the event will be donated to charity funds for poor children.
