Mediterrania, Manresa (October 29th – November 1st, 2009 )Back to the events list
In the beginning of November there is a festival of traditional arts and crafts hosted in Manresa, Spain. The festival of folklore and popular shows is called "Mediterrania". The downtown area of the city turns into a play stage for three days. Colorful parades, concerts, dances, street performances are organized during the Mediterranean Festival of Traditional Art.
According to the rules of Mediterrania in Manresa, the participants must rely upon Catalonian traditions and culture in all their performances and acts. Nonetheless, the organizers are very eager to invite performing art troops from other Mediterranean countries (why else would the festival be called Mediterrania). Last year, for instance, Manresa was visited by close neighbors from Occitania and Pied Monte, as well as by people from Greece, Lebanon, North Africa, and the Middle East.
The program of the Mediterranean Festival of Traditional Art in Manresa featured about one hundred shows for adults and for families. In addition, Manresa organizes exhibitions, movie shows, and presentations. The fair dedicated to the festival features works of art and traditional craft of national masters, books about culture and national traditions. You can also find a lot of information about the character of tourism in the region, and learn about other festivals of this type.
