OLIOLIVA (November 25th – November 29th, 2009 )Back to the events list
In the city of Imperia in Italy, a festival takes place every year called Olioliva. The festival, as the name would suggest, is dedicated to olive oil produced in Imperia (and the whole of Liguria region, where this city is located).
Olioliva is a gastronomical, cultural, and historical holiday. Guests of the Olive Oil festival have the chance to taste the local cheese and wines, listen to folklore bands, and of course, get some of the freshest olive oil.
People arrive to the Olioliva festival from northern Italy, from France (Imperia is close to the French border), and from other countries. The big downtown streets will be blocked for motor vehicles of any kind, and a big market will be opened there. The market will feature all kinds of produce, wines, oil, and more. In Porto Maurizio and Oneglia (the two historical centers of the city) will feature seminars and conferences dedicated to olive oil and oil storage products.
The olive oil festival in Imperia will be interesting for both professionals and gourmands who cannot imagine their diet without olive oil.
