Luxury Wine Tourism: the best wineries in Bordeaux are open for tourists Apr 16, 2009As you may know, the French region Bordeaux produces some of the best wines in the world. Why? A unique opportunity to understand this was offered by one the most famous wine entrepreneurs in Bordeaux and all of France –Bernard Magrez. The owner of 35 wineries across the world, Bernard Magrez recently launched a new program called –Luxury Wine Tourism. The program lets the participants fully discover the world of French wine traditions. The new wine tourism program was launched in February 2009 and opens the doors to some of the most famous Chateaus in Bordeaux. The providers of the wine tour are ready to offer its serious clients not only the general introduction to wines, winemaking in the region, but a detailed description of the culture and history of everything related to wine and winemaking in the region, as well as the most comfortable and luxurious accommodations for the time of the tour.
Visitors will get a chance to stay at the Chateau Pape-Clement, which belongs to Pope Clement the 5th, where they will get a chance to dive into a 13th Century atmosphere while admiring the art and decorations of the Chateau ad learning about its religious history. Afterwards, right before a classy diner and wine tasting, tourists can visit the Art Nouveau pavilion, created and decorated by the famous architect Gustav Eiffel. The program features a visit to Chateau Fombrauge and Chateau La Tour Carnet, where philosopher Michele de Montaigne and writer Étienne de La Boétie used to meet in the middle of the 16th Century, as well as boat tour through Arcachon lagoon. After that you will have a choice of being picked up by a private helicopter or a Rolls Royce to be taken to a golf field, a restaurant, the opera, or a Spa center. A private concert is another feature of the program.
It wouldn’t make much sense to describe the whole program in detail since the itineraries of the Luxury Wine Tourism are individually tailored to suit the preferences of the client. Bernard Magrez himself invites both couples and small groups of people who can stay at one of his Chateaus for a day or longer, if they so wish. The famous entrepreneur also promises to relieve his guests from all traffic related stress by making his Falcon 50 airplane available. The plane will take guests from the capital and bring them straight to Bordeaux. Back to news
