Restrictions for liquids to be introduced at Turkish airports Apr 20, 2009Starting on April 20th, the Republic of Turkey introduced new regulations that limit the types of liquids which can be transported in the carry-on luggage informs the Moscow office of Turkish Airlines. The restrictions are placed on water and other drinks, soups, syrups; crèmes, lotions, and oils; perfumes, sprays, gels (including hair and shower gels), liquids in pressure cans, including shaving foams, other foams and deodorants; pastes, including tooth pastes, mixed liquid and solid substances, ink, and any other similar substances, and of course, alcoholic beverages.
“According to the new rules passengers are allowed to bring only very small amounts of the above mentioned substances on board, and only if they are packed in containers not exceeding 100ml in volume” – noted the representatives of Turkish Airlines. In addition, the containers must be placed into transparent plastic bags not exceeding 1 liter volume capacity. Every passenger is permitted to have only one such bag in his/her carry-on luggage.
All liquids or gels purchased at the airport’s duty free shops must be packed and sealed. It is worth noting that the seals are only valid for 24 hours, unless broken, in which case they become invalid immediately. Similar rules are enforced all over Europe since November 2006; and in Russia, since august 2007. Back to news
