Learn about the wildlife of the Alps at the Introd Wildlife ParkApr 28, 2009Located in the Introd Commune, at the foot of Gran Paradiso Mountain, the Wildlife Park is a unique representaion of a pure Valle d'Aosta fauna park. Here you can witness from a very close distance a large variety of Alpine wildlife species in their natural habitat.
The park opened in 2005 and spreads over 30 thousand square meters. Combining the pleasure of walking through the natural park and the fulfillment of the aromas and colors of mountain flowers you can witness some of the interesting animal species that populate the Alps. Some of the more frwuently seen animals here are Chamois, mountain goats, deer, wild boar, Roe deer, groundhogs, and a wide variety of predators such as kestrels, screech-owl, European Scops owl, peregrine and owls. In addition to the above mentioned species you can witness the Mountain Phasianus- a pheasant bird introduced into the ecosystem of the park right before the winter closing.
The wildlife park visits are not free, but until the end of the summer season it will be open evry day from 9:30 untill 6PM. A special yet simple route is laid out for all the visitors. The route stretches out for about 1 kilometer and passes along water and food racks, as well as hay composts and other food that can attract animals. In addition to the route there is a playground for kids and a picninc area. Back to news
