Sheep attacked the downtown of MadridOct 27, 2008Sheep traditionally go through the capital of Spain once per year. This tradition is called "Fiesta de Trashumancia", when the streets of downtown are crowded with hundreds of sheep and herders. The other day there’s been a traditional procession in Madrid. More than 1000 sheep took part in festive procession.
The only bad accident saddened the procession this year, a 78-year old herder died.
Herders paid traditional 50 Costello coins on square de Ville. They were used in the times of Alphons VI and according to the agreement signed in 1418 it allowed herders and sheep going through the country and Madrid. Back to news
