The Art of Games at Centro Saint Benin, Valle d’AostaMay 08, 2009The world’s most popular video games will become the main topic of an exhibition at the Centro Saint Benin, in Valle d’Aosta, May 22nd through November 8th. The objective of the exposition is introduce the art of video gaming using an interactive path which includes both historical and symbolical links.
The exhibition is called “The Art of Games. New borders between beauty and game”, and is supposed to demonstrate a way in which the art of the game becomes the main theme of the presentation and in the same time can alter not only the historical and scientific attitudes but also the aesthetic preferences of the participants. All aspect of video game production will be analyzed in detail, starting from the sketches all the way through to a finished game. The authors of this project have one objective in mind, which is to show the level of art skill, imagination and technology that is necessary to create a video game.
Somewhere around 100 works of fifty authors were selected for this exhibition, with full multimedia support and areas dedicated to in-depth analysis and original sketches. In addition there will be featured presentations of speed-painting. Visitors will be able to play demo versions of games on special console setups right at the exhibition center. In the section called “Amazing Inspiration” one will get a chance to witness and compare photos of the most important cultural sites of Valle d’Aosta and the works of video game artists.
The image of the new electronic game heroes and that of the knights of the Middle Ages seamlessly connect the past and the future into a unique composition. A 3D film created with the help of digital technologies will introduce all the visitors to the heritage of Valle d’Aosta. Famous games like: Lost, Mist, Prince of Persia, Star Wars, Iron Man and Tomb Raider will be featured at this show. (ANSA) Back to news
