A world famous hotel chain now allows all its guests to jump on giant beds May 15, 2009InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has set a new world record in one of the most unusual sports entertainment activities, called bed jumping. There were 22 665 people who participated in this event. In erratic joy people were desperately trying to crash the huge beds (15 meters long and 10 meters wide) without success. The beds were installed in four main touristic destinations of the hotel chain, namely Shanghai(China), Paris(France), London(Great Britain), and New York(USA). Each of the three sessions was opened by a gymnast who had the title of an Olympic champion. In Great Britain, the leading athletes of the national team, which will participate in the 2012 Summer Olympics, were appointed as hosts of the program. By the way, the event was organized with a very specific goal in mind.
The company, which is one of the biggest players in the market of hotel accommodations, decided to complement its marketing campaign by organizing the bed jumping event. Also, as a part of the marketing campaign, 5 million rooms in 4000 hotels belonging to the chain will be offered free of charge. According to the authors of this campaign, the people who participated in the bed jumping activity came to reminisce about childhood and experience the wonderful feeling that children get when jumping on the bed. After the event was over there couldn’t possibly be anyone who left without a sincere smile on their face and a great mood. As for the hotel chain, the campaign became a guarantee for the attraction of new clients from various levels of society as well as from different countries. The bed jumping campaign was one of the most democratic, international, and multi cultural events. Back to news
