Emotions and rafting on the Dora Baltea River Jun 10, 2009
Rafting became one of the most widespread and popular water sports because it does not require any special training and is relatively cheap and safe. The routes of the Antey rafting school start in the lower end of the valley and gradually rise into the mountains; the main base is located in Antey-Saint-Andre, in the valley of mount Cervin. There are four types of descents offered at this location: Full, Classic, Extreme, and a descent combined with a visit to the thermals in Pre Saint Didier.
Chatillon is the base of the “Rafting Adventure” school, which organizes different types of entertaining trips on rafts, beginning with basic training on the Classic route and ending with the “Rafting Day” program with a “non-stop” option. In addition, a “Family” descent can be ordered, featuring a shorter route for the youngest rafters who will come with their parents. A little bit closer to Aosta, in the Carr village, there is a center called “H2O”. The program of the club features seven different types of routes: starting with a relatively easy descent using signs along an unsophisticated section of the river, and finishing with the “Day Trip-customizable rafting tour” which offers the opportunity to take two descents with a lunch break or stay on the river all day long. There is also the “H2O” route that combines a mind blowing descent with a tour guide who will tell stories about the local nature and the traditions of Aosta Valley.
In Sarre, Aosta Valley, there is a club called “Rafting 4810”, that offers white water rafting combined with guided excursions, hikes along chain enforced roads, called Nordic walking, as well as other types of water sports during the summertime. The club also organizes holiday dedicated to sports and entertainment, including appetizers and diner after the sports events. The river sports center “Rafting Republic” in Aymavilles, Aosta offers its guests a wide choice of routes; Family, Classic, Advanced, and One Day.
The Rafting Adventure Club in the village Shavonne, near Villenueve, organizes special training programs for tourist with different skill levels. The club offers several tour packages, and four ways to practice this water sport: Baby, Classic, Non Stop, and a Day Trip that end with a grill at the base. In the village of Derby, in the La Salle commune, there is a club called “Onda selvaggia”, which organizes various types of event starting from “bombastic raft”- a short by staggering descent that lasts about an hour and a half., and finishing with “wild raft” – the most authentic river adventure, where in a span of under four hours tourists will get a chance to pass through all the navigable parts of the Dora Baltea River; and finally there is the “weekend raft”.
At the sports center of the Morgex village there is a club called “Morgex rafting”. This club pays special attention to the needs of groups and corporate clients, groups of managers and similar customers when organizing its efforts. The club offers “weekend multisport” activities as well. These include rafting exercises, canoeing, and kayaking, combined with visits to thermals. Finally, in the very center of the Pre Saint Didier village there is a club called Totem Adventure, that offers special package deals with interesting names, such as the short but straining descent called “Fontine”, the more difficult “Karma”, and “Must” designed for the most brave tourists.
