Le Bourget International Aerospace Salon has a rich history starting since 1908, when Gustave Rives, the organizer of the Grand Palais auto show, decided to also conduct an exhibition of flying machines. The idea was welcomed and by September 1909 the firs air show has taken place. 380 companies have taken part in the show and demonstrated their achievement and technological capabilities in the area of aerostatics, airplane construction and engines. The tradition of conducting the exhibition twice a year has been started in 1924.

In 1951, at the dawn of cosmic exploration, the air salon moved to Le Bourget airport near Paris. The 50s and 60s were the two important decades during which the exhibition gained international recognition among many companies and fans, becoming a place for meetings and networking for many producers in the air and space industries. In 2007 the International Aerospace Salon in Le Bourget was visited by more than 400 thousand people. There were more than 200 companies participating in the exhibition coming from 42 countries. There were 140 airplanes and 40 of them took part in the live air show demonstration. Despite the fact that the character of the Le Bourget Aerospace Exhibition is mostly commercial it attracts not only specialists but regular people who love the sky and aviation (their number exceeds half of the total number of visitors of the salon).

In 2009 Le Bourget Aerospace Salon will open its doors once more. Let us remind that 2009 is the 100th Anniversary of the salon.
