Skeleton of Ancient Warrior discovered in Italy Aug 06, 2009At the Nettuno beach resort in Italy, which is located near Rome, the remains of an ancient man were discovered, reports Telegraph. Making their regular chopper rounds, the officers of Italian police from the department of culture protection, noticed a hole on the beach and assumed that it might be a tomb. They turned out to be right: a skeleton of a man with an arrow in his chest was discovered there, which led to the hypothesis that this was a tomb of a warrior, as well as the presence of several ceramic bowls and stone arrowheads.
Right now, the skeleton of the man, who was “baptized” Nello in honor of his archeologist, is on display at the museum of Rome. The discovery, whose age is estimated at around 4,5 thousand years, was made in May, but several more months were necessary for additional digging and research. The remains were virtually intact, except for the subject’s feet, which apparently were washed away by the sea.
Scientist believe that the beaches of Nettuno can be concealing many more archeological secrets, to be discovered later. But, regardless of this fact, the resort continues its operations at the regular pace, almost as if nothing happened. Back to news
