The museum of a fabulous Italian painter and sculptor – Amedeo Modigliani, closed down in the city of Livorno, Italy reports the local paper Il Tirreno. The museum was found 12 years ago upon the initiative of a group of dedicated collectors and art fans from Livorno. The museum was located at 38 Roma street in a Livorno apartment where Modigliani was born in a poor Jewish family on the 12th of July, 1884. In the beginning they even place archive documents, related to the life and work of the great master, on display at the museum. A bit later, using the above mentioned documents the enthusiasts gradually reconstructed the interior of the Modigliani apartment, using authentic furniture from the 19th Century.

One of the main proponents of this small, but very interesting project museum was a local gallery owner and expert of arts - Giorgio Guastalla. Giorgio co-owns the historical apartment on Roma street together with his brother Guido. Unfortunately, the brothers couldn't quite get along, and by the time their contract expired Giorgio was forced to reimburse the relatives of Modigliani with an equivalent of the other half of the apartment rent. This circumstance became the main reason for the foreclosure of the Modigliani museum in Livorno.
