The Grace Kelly Era – Monaco to Rome Sep 10, 2009

From October 16th, 2009 until February 28th, 2010 there will be an exhibition on Rome called "The Grace Kelly Era, Princess of Monaco". The first exhibition took place in summer of 2007 in the Grimaldi Forum Monaco and enjoyed extraordinary success – around 135 thousand visitors. Later the exposition was held in the city palace of Paris – Hotel de Ville, during the summer of 2008, attracting 75 thousand visitors. In Moscow, 65 thousand people visited the exhibition dedicated to the Princess of Monaco during October-December 2008. The exposition in Moscow was held at the cultural center of the Ekaterina Foundation. Very soon people who live or happen to visit Rome will be able to learn about the life of the famous Grace Kelly.

The trademark exposition will be held at Palazzo Ruspoli in Rome. The open dates are from 16th of October, 2009 until the close on the 28 th of February, 2010. The initiator of the exhibition is an Italian cultural fund called "Memmo". Visitors of the exhibition will find themselves surrounded by an atmosphere of the years when Grace Kelly was the princess of Monaco – an incredible woman with an exceptional life, a brilliant Hollywood actress who became a princess and a symbol of Monaco.

Frederic Mitterrand, a famous French director of documentary films and current French minister of culture and communication, became the curator of the exhibition. Following his initiative the exhibition will feature the works of famous photographers of that time who took pictures of Grace Kelly, including Howell Conant, Cecil Beaton, and Irving Penn. Pictures taken by other famous contemporaries of the Princess will also be present at the expo, including some by Jacqueline Kennedy, Maria Callas, Alfred Hitchcock, and Cary Grant. Other item at the expo will be personal belongings of the princess such as the famous purse from Hermes, dresses and jewelry.

The official opening will take place on October 15th, 2009 at 6PM and His Majesty the count of Monaco will be present. A press conference dedicated to the exhibition will be conducted on October 14th at noon.
