From Bari to Napoli on your own two…wheels Sep 12, 2009The official website of the Puglia region (www.viaggearepuglia.it) published a map of the national bicycle route Bari-Napoli (n.10 Rete Bicitalia).
The route has passed the necessary checks on every kilometer of its length. It passes through several administrative regions of Puglia, including Bari, Bitetto, Ruvo, Castel del Monnier, and Minervino; then moves towards the Basilicata region, crosses Venosa, Melfi, Rapallo, Atella, Ruvo del Monte and Pescopagano. In the Campania region the route passes through Saint Andrea di Conza, Lioni, Avellino, and Nola. After 334 km the route gloriously ends in Napoli. Hooray!!! For the extra passionate and restless cyclists there is a slightly longer variation of the route passing through Matera. As of this day, the route is considered to be one of the best bicycle routes connecting Bari and Napoli. It was developed using secondary, lower load roads in order to avoid traffic jams or other delays, and increase safety.
The described route corresponds to the bicycle track called Ciclovia del Borboni. The guide map is only available in electronic form as of this day, and contains the description of the Bari-Napoli segment and the longer router passing through Matera; topography profiles, road maps are under a 1:75,000 scale with the route drawn in a dashed line. The map also includes photographs of the scenery along the route. Back to news
