International wedding celebration dedicated to Saint Nicholas to be held in Turkey Sep 26, 2009

In the beginning of December 2009, in Turkey, there will be a wedding ceremony that will bring together 15 happy couples. What makes this ceremony so unusual is the fact that the participating couples will not only be newlywed but also those who celebrate their wedding anniversaries. Journalists from all over the world have been invited to the ceremony. The wedding celebration will take place between the 1st and the 7th of December, days which are considered sacred among Christians. The location of the event is Antalya, the town of Demre. According to an old tradition, the town is considered the homeland of Saint Nicholas, the protector of sailors, children and brides. He is also known as Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas is a symbol of love and faithfulness.

For the happy newlyweds there will be a beautiful solemn wedding ceremony as well as a special entertainment program featuring visits to local historical and natural sites and various other events. The authorities are planning to hold such events every year on these same dates.
