France will celebrate the anniversary of AsterixOct 13, 2009The most famous Gaul – Asterix, the hero of a popular French comic series, celebrate his 50th anniversary this year. France is preparing to properly celebrate this anniversary. On October 22nd, approximately 20 countries of the world will publish the next, 34th books, called the Anniversary of Asterix and Obelix, The Golden Book" on the same day. The album in particular will contain touristic and culinary information about Galatia, which is the name given to modern France territory under the rule of the Roman Empire. The overall number of published book will be around 3 million copies. In the end of October there will be a medieval exhibition at the Cluny Medieval Museum in Paris, dedicated to Asterix. You will be able to see the original drawings and manuscripts about the adventures of a heroic Gaul.
On October 29th, on the day of the anniversary of Asterix, there will be an event in Paris called "The Gauls attack Lutetia" (which is the Roman name given to capital of France). The organizers of the event did not wish to disclose any information relating to the program, and promised a lot of surprises, writes Podroze.onet.pl. The first story about Asterix appeared on the page of Pilote comics magazine in October 1959. Albert Uderzo was the original artist who create the illustrations, and the scripts were written by Rene Goscinny, the author of popular adventure series called "Lucky Luke". Their cooperation continued for almost 20 years. After Goscinny's death in 19s77 Uderzo continues working on the series independently. Back to news
