Istanbul nominated for European Cultural Center-2010 Oct 20, 2009The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced a new project designed to strengthen the partnership between the Istanbul Municipality, the city museum of modern art, and several large tourist agencies in the country. The project got the name "Live Istanbul" and was launched in connection with the declaration of Istanbul as being the European Cultural Center for the year of 2010. Fifty members of a commission from 25 countries will spend 5 days in Istanbul. During this time they will be witnessing a diversified cultural program, including numerous elements – traditional cuisine, Turkish spas, crossing the Bosporus strait on a yacht, and much more.
By the end of the five day program all the members of the honorable commission will have to give their opinion of the new Cultural Center and give the information to the mass media representatives in their countries of origin. Among the participants in the project we note such countries like Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Russia, Poland, United States, Spain, France, Israel, China, Japan, India, and Iran. It is expected that the delegation will visit the Topkapi Palace, the Istanbul Museum of Archeology, the Mosk of Sultan Ahmet, the Hagia Sophia Church of Holy Wisdom, and many other places.
