One of the largest exhibitions dedicated to surrealism and Dadaism was recently opened in Rome. The exhibition offers viewers and judges approximately 500 art pieces from authors all over the world. At the exhibition, which is located at the Vittoriano memorial complex in Rome, you will be able to see works that belong to two art movements – Surrealism, and Dadaism. Among the works you will find paintings, sculptures, collages, sketches and various illustrations.

According to the curator of the exhibition, a completely new opportunity is offered for those who would like to enjoy a panoramic view of the movements, which were absolutely unique, and in a sense, the exposition is just the right juncture for such an occasion. According to some of the artists themselves, these two Avant-garde movements in art are still playing a very important role, sometimes even a catalyzing role, in contemporary culture.

The exhibition begins with early Dadaism art works. Considerably attention is awarded to the productions that participated in the first exhibition of Dadaism, which took place in Berlin back in 1920. The attention of the visitors will be gradually diverted towards the Surrealism works, placing the accent on works which were first shown at the 1925 exhibit in Paris.

At the end of the exhibition you will be able to see works of post-war surrealism, dating to the 1947, 1959 and 1965 time periods.

The exhibition at the Vittoriano memorial complex in Rome will take place on February 7th, 2010.
