Science Fiction Festival in France Oct 28, 2009A small town Nant in France will hold the first yearly festival of science fiction. The festival is known as "Utopiales" and will last from October 28th until November first. The festival features science fiction, as well as the fantasy genre, in literature, cinema, music, visual art, comics, role playing games, and animation. The event is one of the largest in its category across Europe. The festival attracts considerable attention to filmography as being one of the most comprehensive lists of science fiction related content.
In addition to seminars and special events, the film festival will also feature a presentation and nomination for best short film. The short film challenge has its own set of requirements in regards to presentation. The event is considered to be one of the best and easiest ways to learn about everything that's new in the science fiction industry. The idea of holding such an event struck the organizers back in 1998. They were the scientist – Bruno della Kieza, and the director of a science fiction museum – Patrick Giger. The festival is partially financed by the city and is managed by a team of professionals. The festival also has acquired a number of very serious corporate sponsors and is sufficiently distinguishable from the average science fiction fan-club. Back to news
