A new international terminal has been opened at the second biggest Istanbul airport called Sabiha Gökçen. The new building sharply increased the capabilities of the airport, which until recently specialized almost exclusively in internal and budget flights. Sabiha Gökçen is located in the suburbs of the Asian part of Istanbul and approximately 50 kilometers from downtown. The best and quickest commute to the airport is the express-bus from the Taksim Square, the full trip takes just over an hour.

The new terminal will significantly increase the geographical span of the fights – in particular, Turkish Airlines, the national carrier opened a series of new flights to Moscow, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Hanover, Stuttgart, and Köln. Until now the Sabiha Gökçen Airport had only one popular flight to Russia – provided by a budget flight carrier Pegasus Airlines, and going to Krasnodar, as well as individual charter flights. The new terminal has 112 registration desks, 24 kiosk for self-registration and 24 aircraft gates. The field is twice the original size of the Sheremetyevo 3 Airport in Moscow, which is scheduled for opening one of these coming days.
