Winemaker Antonio Banderas is going to build a hotel in a vineyard Nov 24, 2009
Antonio Banderas is planning the construction of a hotel right in the middle of a vineyard in northern Spain, of which he is the owner. The actor plans to conduct conferences for winemakers and share experience in wine production.
Antonio Banderas planned the construction of the hotel right in the middle of "Anta Banderas" – this is how the vineyard which the actor owns is called. The total area of the vineyard is 250 hectares.
The new hotel, according to Banderas' concept will be capable of performing several functions simultaneously: generate profit as touristic real estate and at the same time serve as advertising for his trademark wines. The artist does not try to conceal any of his ambitions regarding the endeavor and hopes to firmly position himself and his business first in the Spanish and European markets, and then go global and target the wine market of the United States.
The movie star has already successfully revive wine production, and the first product release reached 600 thousand bottles a year. However Banderas is not stopping here and plans to triple the production volume, in order to reach two million bottles per year in the coming years.
The vineyards of Banderas are located on the banks of the Duero river. This is a well known winemaking region in Spain – it is called Ribera-del-Duero. The center of the region is located in a small town called Aranda-del-Duero, Burgos province.
The vineyards of Antonio Banderas, which are located in this region, produce both red and pink wines, including the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon brands. Not so long ago the Rivera-del-Duero region announced the commencement of a large-scale marketing campaign entitled "Drink Ribera, Drink Spain" destined to promote its wine on the United States market.
