Spain's travel destinations are in high demand among European tourists Nov 28, 2009Barcelona (Spain) was recognized as the leading tourist destination in Europe. This announcement and verdict was passed to the press by the representatives of social polling agency called OnePoll. The agency has interviewed over 10000 people, gathering sample information for their survey. The predominant majority of respondents gave the highest marks to the Spanish city of Barcelona. Among Barcelona's sites and attractions most mentioned were the wonderful parks, the beaches, the sunny weather and the Catalonian architecture. The authorities of Barcelona consider their territory to be one of the most affordable and accessible to tourists from all over Europe, as well as one that meets all the needs of its guests through a well positioned infrastructure.
The second most popular travel destination city became Paris (France), followed by Rome and Venice, and the Britain's Lake Country. The survey showed that among all the European countries Spain is the most beloved by tourists. In addition to Barcelona, the rating of Top 20 European resorts included Madrid, Benidorm, Malaga, Ibiza, Majorca, and others. Among the fans of winter sports most popularity was enjoyed by French mountain resort in Chamonix. Prague (Czech Republic) was nominated as the best tourist destination for weekend travel, as well as for romantic tours. Golfers gave their votes to the Spanish city of La Manga. And those who prefer to spend their vacations visiting historical sites and architectural wonders gave their votes to Scotland's Edinburg.
