A new five star hotel started operating in the most expensive mountain ski resort of the Three Valleys, in Courchevel. Le Strato is located in Courchevel-1850 and has already managed to obtain the 5-star category rating. The hotel features 25 suites, a spa-center with a hammam, a sauna with a Jacuzzi, a fitness room, and a restaurant.

This season Courchevel is expected launch a brand new 6-seat funicular lift, which will increase the pass through rate of skiers between the different slopes of the resort, particularly between Courchevel-1850 and Couchevel-1650 elevation points. The new lift will replace the old Roc Mugnier and Prameruel chairlifts, and the Combe surface lift. The extension of the Cospillot surface lift below the chairlift funicular in Pralong will permit a wider access to the tracks going down towards Courchevel 1550 and the tourist areas along the way. This winter the resort is offering a new type of 3-hour ski-pass for those guests who are willing to start skiing or snowboarding during certain hours of the day, which they find more convenient, instead of being limited by a half day ski-pass starting from morning, or afternoon only. The active time of the pass begins at the moment the pass holder enters the turning gate near any lift of the valley.

According to the new classification system certain hotels in France finally obtained the 5th-star rating (until recently all the luxury hotels in Courchevel carried the 4* Deluxe rating, including other French French mountain hotels and resorts.)

Out of 26 hotels that received 5 stars, six are located in Courchevel. These hotels are L'Amanresorts, Le Melezin, L'Annapurna, Les Airelles, Le Hotel Cheval Blanc, Le Kilimandjaro, and Le Lana.

A new five-star hotel opened this season at the Courchevel resort called Le Strato. The first Michelin star was awarded to La Table restaurant du Kilimandjaro, and its young chef -Alexandre Ongarо.
