A festival of ice music Jan 18, 2010The visitors of the festival of ice music, which will take place between the 26th of February and the 7th of March at the Schnalstal resort in Southern Tyrol, can expect a truly captivating show. A gigantic ice palace was built on top of a glacier, elevation 3200 meters. This ice hall resembles a house of the Eskimos, known as Igloo. The hall will be filled with harmonious sounds of music performed by Norwegian artists using instruments made from ice. The Norwegian jazz man, Terje Isungset, writes his music from ice, and together with other Norwegian musicians he started a new conception in art.
Once a week concerts will be held at the Ice Cathedral Palace in Schalstal. All the way through April the giant Igloo will remain one of the most interesting places to skiers in the region who came for vacation to Norway. In order to get to the cathedral from the inns you only need to ride a few minutes on skies. In the past, the experiments of Terje Isungset with music from ice in particular, caused considerable appreciation from the public at a ski resort in Northern Italy. This winter the musician decided to conduct his festival back home in Norway.
