France presents excursion route PicassoNov 27, 2008
Year 2009 in the French region Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur is devoted to Pablo Picasso. On these grounds travel agencies arranged activities aimed to introduce the artist’s creativity to the public, and also worked out the tour at the cities where he lived and worked.
The excursion route Picasso is lied through such cities as Avignon, Marseille, Mougin, Antibes, Les Baux-de-Provence, Arles, Aix-en-Provence, Vauvenargues, Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Vallauris. Tourists will visit five museums, where permanent expositions are open, and see not only his pictures and drawings, but also ceramic articles and even painted by him church vault.
In the region art studios travelers can try themselves in fine arts. They can muster painting and drawing technique, nuts and bolts of ceramics, the profession of illusionist, work with artificial materials.
Besides, two significant activities are expected: Picasso - Cézanne exhibition, le soleil en face, which is held in Granet museum in Aix-en-Provence on June, 2nd – September, 27, 2009, and opening for visitors of the castle in Vauvenargues village, where Picasso is buried. The artist bought this castle in 1958. For 37 years from the day of his death the castle was closed for visitors. The visit of castle is possible by prior arrangement in groups of 19. The groups are welcome every 30 minutes.
