On the 1st January, 2009 the Central Bank of Turkey puts into circulation new notes, which will significantly differ from so-called New Turkish Lire (Yeni Türk Lirasi), issued in 2005.

The new note series E9 will be called simply Turkish Lire (Türk Lirasi). In 2009 the old notes will be still in use, but from January 1, 2010 till December 31, 2019 the notes issued in 2005 will not be accepted as payments, however it will be possible to exchange them in any Central Bank of Turkey department and in Türkiye Ziraat Bankasi bank.
