Donatello’s David was shown after the restorationNov 29, 2008The bronze statue of David created by Donatello was brought back at Bargello museum exposition in Florence after restoration, reports Lenta with reference to AFP.
According to restorers, there was used the latest technology to clean the dust eaten into, including laser effect. The restoration work lasted for a year and a half and cost 200 thousands euros.
“Now David is so beautiful as it never was before, although it is hard to believe”, informed the director of Bargello museum.
David became the symbol of the Renaissance. It is reckoned that this is the first portrayal of a naked figure done in bronze since antiquity. Back to news
