Paris getting ready for a colorful Bastille Day parade Apr 30, 2010The French capital is getting ready to amaze all guests by the celebration of Bastille Day. This is one of the oldest and most honored traditions of the French people.
This national holiday yearly celebrated on the 14th of July is meant to remind to the residents of the country about the events of 1789 that became the most important milestone of the French revolution. Naturally, the most colorful and large scale events will take place in Paris. This year the areas of Montparnasse and Saint-Germain-des-Prés will become the main places of action. But those lucky people who will be able to find a spare spot in the viewer's zone at the Champs-Elysées will get an opportunity to observe the military parade from the Triumphal arch to the Place de la Concorde. It's expected that the show of firemen will be one of the most interesting events of the holiday.
In spite of the fact that all historical events honored now on Bastille Day took place on the territory of France, the residents of others cities are glad to join this celebration as well. The French diaspora is planning some festive events in Budapest (Hungary) and New Orleans (U.S.A.) Back to news
