The Louvre opens galleries for Pierre BoulezNov 07, 2008From November 6, 2008 till Februrary 11, 2009 the Louvre presents the show titled “Work:Fragment” devoted to Pierre Boulez and created with his participation. The eighty-three-year old musician and maestro, national treasure of France, chose the exhibits and music for display, says Lenta and France Press.
The project, as written in the press-release on the Louvre site, broaches aspects of the aesthetic autonomy of the sketch and its evolution in the modern era.”Boulez states that “modernism is based on the fragment”. Therefore, there will be showed Russian-born Stravinsky's first drafts of "The Rite of Spring".
The art show titled "Work:Fragment" gathers 70 works by artists such as Ingres, Cezanne, Degas, Delacroix, Kandinsky, Klee, Giacometti and Picasso alongside scores from Wagner, Bartok and Varese and works by writers from the 19th and 20th centuries. In a hallway, you can stop to listen to his musical work "Sur Incises".
Besides the show “Work:Fragment”, there will be held 11 concerts, several conferences, talks and filmed concerts. Back to news
