Turkey will invest 50 million euro in tourism promotionDec 24, 2008

The Minister of tourism of Turkey mentioned that 2008 was a good year for Turkey. During the press-conference organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey there was announced a list of promotional agencies that are entitled to promote Turkey abroad next year.

The Minister of Culture and Tourism Mr Ertugrul Gunay announced that year 2008 was a good year for tourism. During the first 10 months the country had 23,9 million of tourists which is 13,5% more compared to the same period of the previous year. The Minister announced that over 25 million of tourists were expected by the end of December. It’s set that there will be invested 50 million euro or 100 million new Turkish lira (YTL) in commercials and promotion of the country in the new year. Tulin Sahin, a Turkish model, will promote Istanbul during the dDf agency’s campaign.

The list of entitled promotional agencies and regions include: Northern and Southern America – Oyku; Europe, Germany, Austria –Best Werbeagentur; Russian Federation, Ukraine - Iconisus L&Y; Europe, Middle Asia Republics, Balkans -– dDf ; the Middle East, Northern Africa– Medium rare / Inbar Consortium; The Far East, India - B Tops. American company Iconisus L&Y organized a promotional campaign of Turkey in Russia in 2008. Then the motto that was used to attract more Russian tourists in Turkey was “Beaches is not all we have to offer!"
