Bolzano offers fun and ice Jan 19, 2009Tourists in Bolzano, Italy will get a chance to see all kinds of entertainment ice shows this year. There will be concerts of ice music, curling, ice alpinism and ice sculpture exhibition. The traditional festival of ice music will take place from February 21 till March 1. Just like a year ago it will take place in an 18-meter long ice cathedral, specially built Val Senales. Instruments for participants of the festival were made by a Swedish craftsman Terje Isungset who used a thousand year old ice from the Val Senales valley, Podroze.onet.pl reports.
Those who enjoy active vacation will be able to take part in curling competition. Curling is a winter game with similarities to bowls and shuffleboard played on ice where teams take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones down the ice towards the target. In San Candido in Alta Pusteria there is a snow and ice festival these days. Participants made sculptures out of 3-meter long ice cubes and placed them in different parts of the city. Local residents and tourists will choose a winner.
Climbing specially prepared ice walls is one of the sport events in Bolzano in winter. There is one of the highest in Europe climbing constructions in Corvara. It will suit both professionals and novitiates in this kind of sports. Back to news
