As a result of the increase of the Euro rate, prices at French ski resorts became very high and unacceptable for families. For example, a spaghetti baloniez meal costs 15.7 euro, chips cost 8 euro, a can of beer costs 7.55 euro. A dinner with a bottle of wine in an average restaurant will cost you 53 euro. Normally, self-service apartments are considered to be the cheapest accommodation at ski resorts. But not anymore. The cost of the stay at the chalet with breakfast, tea and dinner is now almost the same as the price for an apartment at the resort. But you have to cook for yourself if you stay in an apartment and the prices at the supermarket are just incredibly high. Ski-pass at Val d’Isere would cost you 255 euro for six days; one day pass for kids would cost 45 euro; family pass for five people would cost 1083 euro. Telegraph suggests five tips for those who love to ski and want to visit French ski resorts but want to save.

First of all, the best thing to do is to book all kinds of services in advance. Second, book a chalet or a hotel in stead of an apartment. Buy food in the valley, not at the supermarkets at ski resorts. Third, have cash with you to save on fees that they charge you when using ATM. Avoid famous ski resorts because many small ski resorts in France offer services at smaller prices. And the most funny tip would be to stay in bed and have a full breakfast after that. If you go skiing while everybody has lunch, you’ll save on food and mountainside wouldn’t be crowded.
