Catalonia - top destination for Russian tourists Feb 05, 2009
According to the Council of tourism of Catalonia, Catalonia is visited by 60-70% of Russian tourist coming in Spain. Catalonia offers the guests 12 kinds of tourism branches: water tourism, business tourism, skiing, beach tourism, resorts, active tourism, cultural tourism, sport tourism, family tourism, golf, country tourism and gastronomic tourism. Business tourists can take a unique opportunity of having a business trip in most unique places – museums, sightseeing places and even in monasteries. Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, is one of the five world cities with most developed business tourism. Forum de Barcelona is the largest congress-center in the south of Europe.
Council of tourism of Catalonia can also help organize participation in the high society event of the stars of football club Barcelona. Sport stadiums, opera theater Liceu, car racing at the autodrome of Barcelona are offered as unique areas. Besides the capital of Catalonia, Lloret de Mar is also very interesting for tourists. The building of the southern terminal of airport in Barcelona will soon be finished. Airline companies OneWorld and StarAlliance will soon be transferred to the new terminal. There are also international airports in Jerone and Reus. Big sea ports in Barcelona and Tarragona provide sea communication. Besides that, new express train AVE Madrid – Barcelona is very comfortable for tourists.
