On the first day of the Spring Equinox a famous Argentinean artist Dan Arenzon (www.danarenzon.com) started working on the creation of a series of digital paintings at the Spanish hotel Meliá Barcelona, entitled Equinox. The artist will live in the Hotel for half a year, all the way until the beginning of the autumn equinox on September 22nd. All this time will be dedicated to work on unique collection of digitally generated paintings. The collection will contain 12 series of 12 paintings in each, totaling at 144 unique pieces. The paintings will depict window views from different hotel suites on different floors. The artist uses a computer screen as canvas, his “brush” is a regular mouse and computer software generates the colors. The size of the paintings is 120x120 cm, all unique pieces, printed only once and with a certificate of authenticity and warranty attached at the time of creation.

During the whole time of the project at Meliá Barcelona Dan Arenzon is also conducting an exhibition of paintings called “Digital Landscape. The 10th Anniversary 1999-2009”. This unique collection contains 10 landscape paintings 218x120cm in size with views of the Finnish town Tornio, located in Southern Lapland, famous for its white nights. Dan Arenzon was born in Buenos Aires in 1960 in a family of collectors and artists. In his early years Dan started creating engravings and working with ceramics. As a teenager Dan started drawing and engraving in metal trying various new techniques. By the end of the 1980s, having some experience in film-making, and with photo and video devices, Dan started working with photographs. As time went by he became interested in digital art, started creating art in public, which protects his works from being copied. Dan Arenzon conducted dozens of exhibitions of digital and video arts. His works are based on the concept that two identical moments are non-existent.
